Pressure Reaches Tipping Point After City of Milwaukee’s 100% Clean Energy Vote
We are continuing our weekly, 12 to 1 pm, Stand for a Livable Climate rally focused on We Energies’ policies on using fossil fuels, thwarting renewable energy and their inordinate balance of returns to investors vs fair cost to consumers.
In the past, we've had a delegation meet with We Energies designated executives and had a large march focused on them. Neither resulted in real progress.
WEC's (We Energies parent) president and CEO, Kevin Fletcher, has seen our protests and he's responded to a letter Julie Enslow delivered to the front desk at We Energies. Stay tuned.
We will be using the public sidewalk and we will not be disruptive nor impede their employees or passers-by in any way.
Our 350 banner and signs will be available for participants. We'll have flyers to distribute to interested passers-by who would like one. Please feel free to bring your own sign expressing your We Energies sentiments - especially We Energies' newly announced business and residential solar surcharge tax..
Toward the end of each rally, we will meet in Zeidler Park to plan for the next Stand for a Livable Climate phase for the following Friday. Stand for a Livable Climate is a continuing, nonviolent, direct-action campaign, inviting the media, to help educate the public and our representative government to affect We Energies policies.
