RENEW Wisconsin released this announcement on July 15, 2019
We Energies and RENEW Wisconsin reach settlement on solar energy issue
We Energies and RENEW Wisconsin are pleased to announce a settlement agreement with two important provisions regarding solar energy and customer-owned generation.

With the agreement, We Energies will no longer pursue a solar fixed-cost recovery charge as part of its rate review with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, and RENEW Wisconsin agrees to support an upcoming We Energies utility-scale solar project.

The two parties also agree to collaborate in a series of good-faith discussions for at least the next two years with the goal of finding potential areas of agreement on renewable energy and distributed generation as We Energies continues the transition to a clean energy future.

On July 12, 2019, members of 350 Milwaukee and the Sierra Club delivered a petition to We Energies with more than 1,000 signatures against We Energies proposed Solar Surcharge Fee (Tax).
More than 20 protestors, carrying signs asking We Energies to stop trying to thwart their customers from installing solar energy and rather to encourage renewable energy adoption, delivered a petition to We energies to:
"Stop the attack on consumer-generated clean energy and give up efforts to impose a solar tax on residential and commercial solar installations!"

Stand for a Livable Climate
meets every Friday beginning Friday, June 14th from 12 - 1 pm
at
Zeidler Park across from We Energies - 4th & Michigan, Milwaukee
At 350.org Milwaukee's June monthly meeting, we decided to begin a weekly, 12 to 1 pm, Stand for a Livable Climate rally focused on We Energies’ policies on using fossil fuels, thwarting renewable energy and their inordinate balance of returns to investors vs fair cost to consumers.

In the past, we've had a delegation meet with We Energies designated executives and had a large march focused on them. Neither resulted in real progress.

Our first Stand for a Livable Climate was Friday, June 14th, and was directed at We Energies newly announced business and residential solar surcharge tax as well as other climate and renewable issues.

We only use the public sidewalk and we are not disruptive nor impede employees or passers-by in any way.

Our 350 banner and signs will be available for participants. We'll have flyers to distribute to interested passers-by who would like one. Please feel free to bring your own sign expressing your We Energies sentiments.

Toward the end of each rally, we will meet in Zeidler Park to plan for the next Stand for a Livable Climate phase for the following Friday. Stand for a Livable Climate is a continuing, nonviolent, direct-action campaign, inviting the media, to help educate the public and our representative government to affect We Energies policies.

If you have any questions, please contact George Martin (414) 745-5740.

June 14th, 2019
Twenty people showed up including a half dozen students. A windy day, but wonderful temperature and company.
